Savings
Right now, Clarke is doing less with less; we need to do more with less. We are too poor to be spending taxpayer money frivolously.
As Sheriff, I will find more effective, creative, and efficient ways of cutting costs and following our budget, while still maintaining high levels of services. Let’s reduce waste at the top of the department, and focus on where the rubber hits the road!
Safety
It’s a Sheriff’s job to keep our families safe from crime, and that will be my top priority. While Clarke has been making himself look good, services and safety are plummeting. You need to feel safe in your home, on the road, and in our parks.
Sheriff Clarke has not hired a single new deputy since 2003. By spreading the men and women of the department too thin, he has made it difficult to fight crime and keep Milwaukee County safe. Rest assured, I will work to restore the department.
Community
The issues in Fox Point are going to be different than the issues in Oak Creek, just as the issues on the North Side will be different from those in West Allis. As a Police Officer with experience in the suburbs and the city, I understand each community’s safety needs and how we can work together.
Unlike my opponent, I will foster relationships based on mutual interest and mutual respect in order to create a more coordinated effort to law enforcement. Only by working together as a community can we save money and keep the county safe.
Respect
The difference between me and David Clarke comes down to one word: leadership. David Clarke has instilled fear and a “Yes-Man” mentality in his Command Staff. As Sheriff, I will bring the kind of management philosophy that instills leadership at every level, from the Sheriff on down.
Politics
Ultimately, I am the real Democrat in this race. David Clarke has appeared at Tea Party rallies and Bush White House receptions to align himself with Republicans. To me this is an issue of integrity — why should we trust someone on the issues of safety when we can´t even trust him on his political preferences?
That being said, my party affiliation comes down to my personal political preferences. I am a law enforcement official, not a politician. If it was up to me, the Sheriff would be a non-partisan appointed position. That’s why I am troubled by how my opponent has used his office as a political platform. When I am Sheriff, I will remove politics from law enforcement altogether.
